Films like Beverly Hills Cop and Spy Kids have secured their place in cinema history as part of the prestigious National Film Registry.
On Tuesday, the National Film Preservation Board revealed the 25 films joining this revered list, bringing the total to 900. Spanning over a century and covering a wide range of genres, this year's selections include the 1895 silent documentary Annabelle Serpentine Dance and the 2010 tech drama The Social Network, chronicling the rise of Facebook.
Horror enthusiasts will celebrate the inclusion of the 1974 cult classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, while sci-fi fans can cheer for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan making the cut.
Out of more than 6,700 titles reviewed, only 25 were chosen to join the prestigious National Film Registry, which already includes timeless classics like When Harry Met Sally, The Lion King, Ghostbusters, and The Godfather. According to Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden, films are selected based on their "cultural, historic, or aesthetic importance to preserve the nation’s film heritage."
